Veteran Media Talent Agent David Brunner Retires After 31 Years

PHILADELPHIA, PA — David Brunner, founder of DB & Associates, is retiring after a 31-year career managing television news, radio talent, and athletes. Brunner’s agency, known for its quick response and short-term contracts, set a new standard in the industry.

Brunner launched his agency in 1993 in Neffs, PA, after 15 years in TV and radio. He wanted to create an agency that was different from the rest. “I was tired of hearing stories about how agents took weeks to return calls and tied clients up with long contracts,” Brunner said. His approach quickly drew attention, and he amassed 30 clients within a month.

Initially focused on TV talent, Brunner soon expanded to include radio personalities and athletes. However, post-9/11 travel difficulties led him to focus solely on TV and radio talent.

Over three decades, Brunner represented over 2,100 professionals, managing up to 150 clients at once. He worked with talent across large, medium, and small markets, including journalists seeking their first media jobs. “Helping someone get their first job and seeing them grow was incredibly fulfilling,” he noted.

Despite retiring as an agent, Brunner remains active. He plans to dedicate his time to DBTV, a network he started during the pandemic. The network airs on Roku, Amazon Fire, Smart TVs, and streams live online. A three-time cancer survivor, Brunner aims to share his experiences through speaking engagements.

“I’m grateful for the talented people I got to know and the lifelong friendships I made,” Brunner reflected. His future plans include potentially writing a book about his career and his battles with Stage 4 cancer.
