KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — Vertex Inc. (NASDAQ: VERX) added three senior executives across technology, Europe and human resources as the tax software company pushes deeper into AI, SaaS and international compliance markets.
Chatelle Lynch joined as chief people officer, Carlos Mercuriali as senior vice president and regional manager of Europe, and Bala Chandran as chief product and technology officer.
The appointments broaden Vertex’s leadership bench as businesses face expanding e-invoicing mandates, real-time reporting rules and other compliance requirements, particularly in Europe.
Mercuriali will oversee Vertex’s European operations, including regional strategy, customer relationships, partnerships and go-to-market execution.
He most recently served as senior vice president and general manager of international at Avalara and has more than two decades of experience across enterprise software, tax technology and cloud platforms.
Chandran will lead product management, engineering, information security and emerging technology as Vertex advances what it describes as an AI-first strategy and continues its shift toward software-as-a-service.
He brings more than 25 years of technology experience, including positions at Amazon and Oracle, most recently as a senior vice president at Oracle Health.
Lynch will oversee Vertex’s global people and culture strategy as the company scales its workforce and organizational structure. She previously held chief people officer roles at The RealReal and McAfee.

The appointments follow other recent additions to Vertex’s senior leadership team, including Allison Cerra as chief marketing officer and Aneel Jaeel as chief operations officer.
The company is using the expanded management structure to align product development, regional growth, customer operations and workforce strategy as it increases investment in AI and international markets.
