KING OF PRUSSIA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has reopened the right lane on U.S. 202 South, also known as Dekalb Pike. This follows the completion of sinkhole repairs between Saulin Boulevard and Henderson Road in King of Prussia, Montgomery County.
Multiple sinkholes were discovered beneath the southbound travel lanes on Friday, December 15. This discovery led to the closure of this section of the highway. After a series of repair works, the road reopened to traffic on Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier, a sinkhole was detected in the right travel lane of the same stretch on U.S. 202 North, just north of Henderson Road. This led to the initial closure of the highway on Thursday, December 14. However, the right lane was reopened on Saturday, December 16, after immediate repair work.
Following further repair and paving operations, PennDOT fully reopened this section of U.S. 202 North on Tuesday morning, December 19. The left lane of both U.S. 202 North and U.S. 202 South also reopened on the same day.
Despite the reopening, PennDOT is not taking any chances. They are actively investigating and monitoring this section of U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike). The goal is to see if there’s a need for more subsurface stabilization.
