Two Men Arrested on Gun Charges in Wilmington Following Investigation by Gun Intelligence Unit

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have arrested two men on gun charges as part of an ongoing investigation conducted by the Gun Intelligence Unit. The men, 22-year-old Keyon Jackson and 23-year-old Robert Chavis, were under investigation for illegal firearm possession since the beginning of January.

On the afternoon of January 30, around 3:16 p.m., officers observed Jackson and Chavis in the 2800 block of Tatnall Street. Both men were approached by the police and subsequently taken into custody without any reported incidents. A loaded 9mm handgun was recovered at the scene.

Jackson has been charged with two counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited. Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Jackson was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution with a cash-only bail set at $20,000.

Chavis faces charges of Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon and Giving a Firearm to a Person Prohibited. He was also arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and has been committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution. His cash-only bail is set at $7,500.
