Drivers will be directed along posted detour routes to reach northbound I-476. PennDOT did not provide the specific roads included in those detours.

Motorists should plan extra time and expect delays around the I-76/I-476 interchange in West Conshohocken Borough and Lower Merion Township.

The weekend shutdowns come as drivers continue to face construction elsewhere on I-476. Weeknight lane closures are scheduled from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through October on portions of northbound and southbound I-476 between the I-76 and I-95 interchanges in Montgomery and Delaware counties.

Those restrictions are needed for bridge repairs, guiderail installation, line striping and other construction.

The work is part of a $63.7 million PennDOT project covering nearly 17 miles of I-476 and its associated ramps and bridges. Crews are milling and resurfacing travel lanes and shoulders, repairing 49 structures and improving 21 stormwater management basins.

The project also includes sound-wall repairs, drainage improvements, rock-slope stabilization work and installation of new pavement markings, delineators, rumble strips, signs and guiderail.

H&K Group Inc. of Skippack is the general contractor. The project is financed entirely with federal funds.
