LOWER PROVIDENCE TWP, PA — Drivers in Montgomery County should plan extra time as roadway and utility construction reduces Ridge Pike to a single lane with flagging for a month near the Germantown Pike intersection.
At a Glance
- Roads Affected: Ridge Pike
- Dates: Monday, July 13, through Thursday, Aug. 13
- Times: Weekdays, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Reason: Roadway and utility construction
The lane restriction will be in place on Ridge Pike between Germantown Pike and Crosskeys Road. PennDOT warned that significant backups and delays may occur during the weekday work hours.
No detour was listed, but flaggers will direct traffic through the single-lane work zone. Drivers should expect delays, seek alternate routes when possible, and use caution near crews.
The work is part of a $26.2 million project to improve travel and safety through the Ridge Pike and Germantown Pike intersection in Lower Providence Township.
PennDOT’s contractor will relocate the intersection about 1,300 feet east of its current location and install a new signalized intersection. The project also includes a new Germantown Pike connector road between Germantown Pike and Ridge Pike, with an extension southwest to Pechins Mill Road.
Additional improvements include a roundabout at the northern end of the new connector road, an extension of River Road to Germantown Pike, widening on Ridge Pike, new turn lanes, and stormwater drainage upgrades.
All scheduled work is weather dependent.
