Stephenson’s is known for its first-of-the-year event, featuring a selection of treasures curated from Mid-Atlantic estates and collections. This year’s lineup promises a diverse range of artwork, including a striking watercolor on paper by the highly respected Impressionist Mary Stevenson Cassatt (American, 1844-1926). The piece, which depicts a seated woman in a relaxed pose, wearing a wide-brimmed flowered hat, carries a pre-sale estimate of $15,000-$25,000.

Art enthusiasts will also have the opportunity to bid on a piece by Frank Weston Benson (Massachusetts, 1862-1951), a distinguished portrait artist who painted murals for the Library of Congress. Benson’s contribution to the auction is a serene depiction of a deserted street with a prominent shadow of a building set against a cloud-decked blue sky. The work is signed at the lower right-hand corner and carries an estimate of $5,000-$9,000.

Stephenson’s auction also includes a selection of exquisite jewelry. Among the items up for bidding are brooches, rings, earrings, and bracelets, including a Pandora 14K yellow gold charm bracelet adorned with enameled charms and semiprecious stones, expected to reach between $3,000-$5,000.

Watch collectors will be drawn to a ladies’ two-tone (18K gold/stainless steel) Oyster Perpetual Datejust wristwatch with a Jubilee bracelet and white dial with Roman numerals, which is estimated to sell for $2,000-$3,000.
