PHILADELPHIA, PA — St. Joseph’s Preparatory School soccer players will provide skills training and mentorship to Gesu School students on Thursday, October 15, as part of a youth development initiative organized by nonprofit Sow Good Now to connect student-athletes with younger children through community service.
The three-hour event, scheduled from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Prep, 1733 W. Girard Avenue in Philadelphia, will combine soccer instruction with activities designed to develop teamwork, communication and leadership.
Players from the Prep soccer team will work directly with Gesu students on passing, dribbling, ball control and other fundamental skills. Small-group exercises and team-based games will emphasize cooperation, confidence and sportsmanship.
The event is part of Sow Good Now’s GiveBack program, which connects student-athletes with younger participants through sports instruction and mentorship. The organization uses partnerships with schools, athletic programs and community groups to create service opportunities for athletes.
The Philadelphia event will place St. Joseph’s Prep players in instructional and mentoring roles, allowing them to apply leadership skills developed through competitive athletics while working with Gesu students.
Sow Good Now, a 501(c)(3) public charity, operates programs that provide mentorship, athletic instruction and equipment to young people in underserved communities.
The organization’s broader approach focuses on using established school athletic programs to support youth development while encouraging participating athletes to take on responsibilities beyond competition.
