The retail industry is facing a major issue that is costing billions of dollars each year: shrink. According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), shrink is a collective term that encompasses various problems such as theft, inventory mismanagement, and gift card fraud. In 2022 alone, retail shrink accounted for an astoundingly high loss of almost $95 billion.

The Spring Township Police Department encourages citizens to be proactive in preventing retail crime by reporting suspicious activity or unattended packages immediately to police or store personnel.
