PHILADELPHIA, PA — As the holiday season descends upon us, Roxborough is ready to light up the neighborhood with its annual Roxborough Tree Lighting Ceremony and the expanded Happy Holidays from Rox event, presented by the Roxborough Development Corporation. Starting on Friday, December 8, 2023, the festivities will span across three days at the Roxborough Pocket Park, located at 6170 and 6174 Ridge Avenue.

This year, Happy Holidays from Rox has grown into a three-day holiday pop-up market, featuring over 20 unique crafters, artists, and vendors offering treats and beverages. The space next to the park, previously the Royal Bargain Dollar Store, will transform into a bustling marketplace, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for holiday shoppers.

The weekend’s celebrations will commence with the tree lighting ceremony at 5:30 PM on Friday. Five resplendent Douglas fir trees will be lit, their twinkling lights reflecting off the muralled walls of the park, creating a magical spectacle. Two of these trees will serve as wishing trees, inviting children to decorate wooden ornaments and inscribe their heartfelt wishes, adding a touch of sentimental magic to the festivities.

Live music will fill the air, courtesy of Watershed Church, providing the perfect soundtrack to the holiday merriment. This grand event wouldn’t be possible without the generous support from sponsors including MGMT Residential, Independence Blue Cross, Baker Street Partners, Acme, Renewal by Andersen, and Power Home Remodeling.

Join the Roxborough Development Corporation in celebrating the spirit of the season at the Roxborough Tree Lighting Ceremony and Happy Holidays. From the brilliant tree lighting to the bustling pop-up market, this weekend promises to be an unforgettable start to the holiday season in Roxborough. Come together as a community to celebrate, shop, and share in the holiday cheer!
