Route 322 Slowdowns Loom as Key Route 222 Bridges Set for Inspection

Traffic alert, expect delays

EPHRATA, PA — Motorists traveling through Lancaster County should expect delays next week as PennDOT conducts a scheduled inspection of the Route 222 bridges that pass over Route 322 in Ephrata.

The agency said the one-day operation, weather permitting, will take place Tuesday, December 9, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and will require left-lane closures in both directions along Route 322 between the Route 222 on and off ramps.

According to PennDOT, the westbound left lane of Route 322 will be closed from 9:00 AM to noon, followed by a closure of the eastbound left lane from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM.

Officials urged drivers to stay alert, obey posted work-zone signage, and use caution as crews perform the bridge inspection. Even with the staggered schedule, PennDOT warned that backups are likely throughout the corridor.
