MONTGOMERY TWP, PA — Prepare for delays, Montgomery County commuters. LUV Carwash Northeast LLC is set to initiate roadwork on Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) in Montgomery Township, starting Monday, March 4. The upcoming work is expected to cause traffic backups and slowdowns, so drivers should gear up for some potential inconvenience.
The roadwork, which will take place between Route 463 (Horsham Road) and Vilsmeier Road, starts on March 4 and is slated to run through Friday, March 22. During this period, occasional weekday lane closures are scheduled on the northbound side of Route 309. These closures will occur from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, meaning daytime travelers are likely to feel the brunt of the disruptions.
Motorists should be aware that these closures won’t be a quick, in-and-out affair. Traffic backups and delays are expected, so it would be wise to allow extra time when traveling through the work area. If possible, seeking alternative routes during the peak hours of construction might save you some time and stress.
As is often the case with outdoor projects, weather could play a role in the schedule. All planned activities are weather-dependent, meaning that adverse conditions could lead to changes in the timing and duration of the work.
This project is being completed under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit. In layman’s terms, this permit allows entities other than PennDOT (in this case, LUV Carwash Northeast LLC) to perform work within PennDOT’s right-of-way, typically for projects like utility installations, driveway cuts, and, as in this instance, roadwork.
Patience, planning, and a good podcast or two for the ride can go a long way in making this temporary inconvenience more bearable. Safe travels, Montgomery County.
