Route 30 Nighttime Lane Restrictions to Cause Delays Amid Centerville Road Interchange Improvement Project

EAST HEMFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — In the coming weeks, Lancaster County residents and commuters will need to prepare for possible disruptions in their nighttime travel plans. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has revealed a schedule of lane restrictions on Route 30 as part of the ongoing Centerville Road Interchange Improvement Project in East Hempfield Township.

Beginning Monday, January 15, and continuing through Thursday, January 18, and again from Monday, January 22, through Thursday, January 25, the left lane of Route 30 will be closed in both directions. These closures are set to occur from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM daily, weather permitting.

The lane restrictions are necessary for the demolition of the existing median pier of the old bridge that once carried Centerville Road over Route 30. Following this, construction will begin on a new pier at the same location.

Motorists should anticipate delays and are urged to exercise caution when traveling through this area, especially during the late-night and early-morning hours. Watch for slowed and stopped traffic and pay close attention to signage and temporary traffic control measures.

This work is a crucial component of the expansive Centerville Road Interchange Improvement project. The $36.3 million initiative includes structure replacement, Superpave overlay, base replacement, roadway widening, milling, guiderail improvements, drainage enhancements, pavement markings, ADA improvements, and traffic signal upgrades.

The project extends across Centerville Road from Cornerstone Drive to Marietta Avenue (Route 23), and along Marietta Avenue from Centerville Road to Stony Battery Road. While the bulk of the work is taking place in East Hempfield Township, a portion of the project—from Cornerstone Drive to Columbia Avenue—is located in Manor Township.
