Route 283 Overnight Closures to Trigger Major Delays

EAST HEMPFIELD TWP, PA — Drivers on Route 283 in Lancaster County should expect overnight lane restrictions and potential delays beginning Thursday night as PennDOT crews perform pavement repairs between Esbenshade Road and Route 772.

PennDOT said the work will take place overnight, starting Thursday at 9:00 PM and continuing until 6:00 AM Friday. Crews will resume Friday at 7:00 PM and work through 6:00 AM Monday, weather permitting.

Single-lane restrictions will be in place in both directions, though only one direction will be affected at a time. Work will begin in the eastbound lanes before shifting to the westbound side.

No formal detour is planned, but motorists should anticipate slowdowns through the work zone and consider alternate routes where possible.

The project will be completed by New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise.

Drivers are urged to plan extra time, remain alert in work zones and expect delays during overnight hours.
