WEST EARL TWP, PA — Drivers using southbound Route 222 in Lancaster County should plan extra time this weekend as a continuous lane closure stretches from Friday evening through early Monday morning for bridge work in West Earl Township.

The left lane of southbound Route 222 will close at 7:00 PM Friday and remain closed throughout the weekend until 6:00 AM Monday while crews work on expansion dams on the bridge over North Church Street.
Drivers should expect traffic delays during the restriction and plan extra time when traveling through West Earl Township. Motorists may want to seek alternate routes when practical, particularly during heavier weekend travel periods.
PennDOT noted that most roadwork associated with the larger project has been completed, although additional lane and possible ramp closures on Route 222 will be necessary to finish remaining work.
The bridge work is part of a 3.3-mile pavement preservation project along Route 222 in Manheim, Warwick and West Earl townships. The project covers northbound and southbound Route 222 between the Bushong Road and Pool Road overhead bridges.
Improvements include bituminous resurfacing, full-width milling, base repairs, concrete patching, guiderail updates, line painting and sign upgrades.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company Inc. of New Enterprise is the contractor for the $8.5 million project.
