The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will close the entrance ramp and adjacent acceleration lane while crews repair the northbound Route 222 bridge over North Church Street in West Earl Township.
Drivers attempting to enter northbound Route 222 from Route 772 will be directed to follow a posted detour using southbound Route 272 (Oregon Pike), Jake Landis Road, and Butter Road to reach Route 222 North.
Both northbound mainline lanes will remain open throughout the repairs. However, PennDOT expects travel delays through the work zone as motorists navigate the interchange restrictions.
The repairs are part of an $8.49 million pavement preservation project covering 3.3 miles of Route 222 through Manheim, Warwick and West Earl townships.
The larger project includes resurfacing, pavement milling, base repairs, concrete patching, guiderail improvements, pavement markings and updated signs between the Bushong Road and Pool Road overhead bridges.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company Inc., based in New Enterprise, Pennsylvania, is the project contractor.
Motorists should plan extra travel time, follow posted detour signs, and use caution when approaching the construction area.
