Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)

LANCASTER, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that planned repairs on the Route 222 bridge over Church Street in East Cocalico Township have been postponed by one week.

The work, which includes bridge slab repairs and roadway concrete patching, is now scheduled to run from 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 12, through 6:00 a.m. Monday, September 15, weather permitting. Lane restrictions will be in place in both directions of Route 222, along with an 11-foot width limit.

This effort is part of a larger $7.7 million pavement preservation project spanning Route 222 from Mohler Church Road to Colonel Howard Boulevard. Improvements include resurfacing, milling, base repair, guide rail updates, line painting, sign replacements, and construction of a new entrance to the northbound weigh station between the Lancaster County line and the Adamstown/Knauers Exit in Berks County. The project is expected to conclude by February 2, 2026.
