Roadwork on Cowpath Road to Cause Significant Traffic Delays

Traffic Restrictions

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that Cowpath Road will be closed starting Monday, July 29. The closure, set to last until Friday, November 1, will affect the stretch between Derstine Road and Mininger Road.

Passenger vehicles will be redirected to Derstine Road, Elroy Road, and Beck Road. Trucks will be rerouted via Bergey Road, Route 309, and Route 113. East Township Line Road local traffic will navigate through Penn Avenue and Bergey Road.

Local access will be maintained within the work zone. However, motorists are advised to allow extra time for travel as backups and delays are expected.

This roadway reconstruction is part of PennDOT’s Route 309 Section HT2 project. The project aims to enhance mobility and safety for motorists traveling between Route 309 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange. This section covers 2.3 miles and is the second of three contracts under the five-mile-long Route 309 Connector Project.

The first section, Section HAT, was completed in 2012 and involved rebuilding and realigning 1.5 miles of Wambold Road in Franconia Township. The final section, Section HT3, which spans from Hatfield/Souderton Pike to County Line Road, Route 309, and Fairhill Road, is currently in the design phase.

Drivers are encouraged to plan their routes accordingly and stay updated on potential changes due to weather conditions.
