CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — Rick’s Tavern will open Thursday at the former Pizza Time and Old Time Saloon property in Conshohocken, marking the latest restaurant investment targeting the Montgomery County borough’s growing dining and nightlife market.
The new restaurant, operated by restaurateurs Rick and Gale Mahoney, replaces a long-standing local hospitality site at 201 West Seventh Avenue and positions itself around an expanded Italian-focused food and bar program.
Chef Derek Davis will oversee the kitchen. Davis previously operated restaurants in Manayunk, including Sonoma, Derek’s, and Kansas City Prime, and is expected to anchor the tavern’s market positioning around higher-end casual dining.
The opening reflects continued turnover and redevelopment across suburban Philadelphia restaurant corridors, where operators are increasingly repurposing established local venues rather than pursuing new construction.
Rick’s Tavern said it will offer a menu centered on Italian-American staples, including house-made pasta, pizza, sandwiches, cheesesteaks, burgers, antipasto, and rotating ravioli specials.
The business also plans a full beverage program featuring cocktails, mocktails, beer, and wine.
According to the company, the grand opening event Thursday night will include live music, valet parking, and walk-in seating availability. Food service is expected to continue until 10 p.m., while the bar will remain open until 11 p.m.
“We have been hard at work putting the finishing touches on Rick’s Tavern,” co-owner Gale Mahoney said in a statement, adding that the concept is intended to combine Italian traditions with a modern neighborhood tavern format.
The restaurant inherits a location long associated with Pizza Time and Old Time Saloon, businesses that maintained a local following in Conshohocken prior to the redevelopment of the property.
