CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — Quaker Houghton (NYSE: KWR) has opened a new manufacturing facility in Zhangjiagang, China, expanding production capacity in one of its key growth markets as the industrial fluids maker seeks to meet rising demand across the Asia-Pacific region.
The new facility adds local production capabilities for the company’s die-casting and grease product lines and supports customers in industries including steel, aluminum, automotive manufacturing, beverage can production, mining and wind power, the company said.
The investment strengthens Quaker Houghton’s manufacturing network in Asia, where industrial activity and infrastructure investment continue to drive demand for specialty process fluids and related technologies.
“The opening of our Zhangjiagang facility is an important step in Quaker Houghton’s long-term growth strategy in Asia,” Albert Ma, senior vice president and regional commercial lead for Asia Pacific, said in a statement.
The company has also expanded its laboratory operations in Shanghai this month, adding testing and development capabilities intended to support product innovation and customer applications in the region.
The expanded Shanghai facility includes dedicated laboratories for Quaker Houghton’s grease business and its QH FLUID INTELLIGENCE technology platform, which is designed to monitor and optimize industrial fluid and process performance.
Chief Executive Officer and President Joseph Berquist said the investments reflect the strategic importance of Asia-Pacific to the company’s long-term growth plans.
“They strengthen our ability to better serve our customers in the region by enabling local production of a larger portion of our diverse product portfolio and accelerating innovation to meet increasing demand across the region,” Berquist said.
Quaker Houghton, headquartered in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, is one of the world’s largest suppliers of industrial process fluids and specialty chemical solutions used in metalworking and manufacturing operations. The company has increasingly focused on expanding its presence in Asia as manufacturers shift production and investment toward the region.
