Qlik Acquires Mozaic Data, Pioneering AI-Driven Data Management

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Qlik© this week announced the acquisition of Mozaic Data, an innovative company known for its AI-driven data management technology. The deal is expected to streamline data handling for businesses, underscoring a product-oriented approach aimed at improving data quality and governance.

The integration of Mozaic into Qlik’s portfolio represents a transformative approach to data management. It aligns with the increasing demand from organizations to create domain-centric data products that go beyond typical data integration and quality measures.

“Organizations are increasingly seeking to create domain-centric data products that transcend data integration and quality. There’s an elevated expectation within the industry,” said Stewart Bond, Vice President, Data Intelligence and Integration Software at IDC. He further noted that Qlik’s focus on data quality and governance offerings, embodying the concept of data products, resonates with current customer needs.

Mozaic founder Sharad Kumar will join Qlik as the Regional Head of Data Integration and Quality, bringing his expertise to enhance Qlik’s innovative capabilities. His focus will be on developing a next-generation Data Product Catalog solution, enabling customers to extract more value from their data quickly and effectively.

Drew Clarke, General Manager, Data Business Unit at Qlik, emphasized the significance of the acquisition and Kumar’s expertise, stating, “The acquisition of Mozaic and Sharad’s expertise is a pivotal step in reshaping the data landscape, and is a significant contribution to our ongoing work for 2024.”

Mozaic’s Data Product Experience approach, based on principles of decentralized architecture, allows organizations to build, secure, govern, deploy, and manage domain-centric data products in the cloud. These data products can be discovered through a data product marketplace, and accessed through diverse consumption patterns, enabling various business use cases.

The Harvard Business Review has noted that treating data as a product can expedite the implementation of new use cases by 90% and reduce total cost of ownership by 30%. This acquisition is set to accelerate data deployment and utilization across enterprises, particularly in cloud platforms like Amazon Redshift, Databricks, Google BigQuery, Microsoft Fabric, and Snowflake.

Kumar expressed his enthusiasm about joining Qlik, stating, “Joining Qlik is a significant milestone for Mozaic Data. We share a vision to improve data consumption by maximizing value from data investments.”
