Police Seek Help in Identifying Suspect in SEPTA Bus Shooting

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance for information in reference to a shooting that occurred on the SEPTA Route 33 bus on May 17, 2023, at 11:55 am.

Investigators with the Shooting Investigations Group say that a large group of juveniles boarded the SEPTA bus at the 20th and Diamond St stop and immediately attacked passengers. One of the males repeatedly hit a passenger with a firearm, causing it to discharge, striking two 18-year-old male victims in their legs. The group exited the bus and fled on foot, westbound on the 2100 block of Diamond St. Video of the incident was recovered from SEPTA surveillance and local businesses.

The individual in question is a young, thin black male aged between 14 and 17, sporting a black and camo “Bape” brand hoodie, black sweatpants, and grey sneakers.
