Philadelphia Police Seek Public Aid in Identifying Deli Burglary Suspect

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Police Department’s Central Detective Division is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying a burglary suspect caught on video. The incident took place in the early hours of January 7, 2024, marking a disconcerting start to the new year for Philadelphia residents.

At approximately 3:59 a.m., an unidentified male suspect forcibly opened the front door of Honey Bee Deli, located at 1034 Spruce Street. Once inside, the intruder attempted to steal the ATM machine. However, the would-be thief was unsuccessful in his efforts to remove the machine and subsequently fled the scene.

The suspect, described as a male of undisclosed race wearing all dark clothing, arrived and made his getaway in a light-colored Ford SUV. The precise direction of his departure remains unknown.

Philadelphia police are urging residents to exercise caution. “If you see this suspect, do not approach,” the department advised in a statement. “Contact 911 immediately.” The public can also submit tips via phone by dialing 215.686.TIPS (8477) or text a tip to 215.686.TIPS (8477). All tips will be treated confidentially.
