Philadelphia Police Seek Assistance in Identifying Arson Suspects

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Police Department is calling on residents for assistance in a recent arson case that targeted a commercial property on Lancaster Avenue.

In the early hours of January 9, 2024, at around 2:23 AM, a fire was allegedly set inside a property in the 4100 block of Lancaster Avenue. The fire self-extinguished, only for the same individuals to reportedly return and ignite another blaze at approximately 2:57 AM. This second fire was put out by firefighters who arrived at the scene promptly.

Authorities have released descriptions of the two suspects believed to be responsible for the fires.

Suspect #1 is of an unknown race, seen wearing a dark baseball cap—possibly a New York Yankees cap—a zippered jacket or sweatshirt with unidentified logos on the chest and sleeves, as well as a shirt with an unidentified face and writing on it. Notably, this individual was seen exchanging a red bandana used to cover their face with the other suspect.

Suspect #2, also of unknown race, was seen wearing a darker colored hoodie with unidentified writing on the chest. This individual was observed wearing the red bandana or cloth over their face after the exchange.

The suspects are believed to have left the scene in a light-colored Honda CRV, which may have a missing or replaced, unpainted black fuel filler door.

The Philadelphia Police urge anyone who recognizes these individuals or has any information regarding this incident to contact law enforcement immediately. However, they caution against approaching the suspects directly. If you see the suspects, call 911 straight away.
