Philadelphia Police Search for Suspects in Alleged Armed Road Incident

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Police Department’s Central Detective Division is appealing to the public for help in identifying a group of individuals caught on video in an alleged road incident.

On January 27, 2024, at around 1:05 a.m., the complainant reported being cut off by another car while driving on the 500 block of North 17th Street. The car reportedly stopped at the end of the block, and four individuals, at least one allegedly armed with a gun, exited the vehicle and ran toward the complainant. The armed individual is said to have pointed the gun at the complainant, who managed to drive away from the scene.

The encounter was captured on the complainant’s dash cam, which shows the suspects using a stolen car to block the complainant’s vehicle. Surveillance footage also tracked the suspects prior to the incident on the Septa Market Street Line.

The police department has issued a caution to the public not to approach the suspects if seen but to contact 911 immediately. Confidential tips can be submitted via telephone by dialing 215.686.TIPS (8477) or by texting a tip to the same number.

Anyone with information about this alleged crime or these suspects is encouraged to contact the Central Detective Division at 215-686-3047 or 215-686-3048. Detective Callahan is handling the case, which bears the ID DC-24-09-003260.

As always, it’s important to remember that an arrest or criminal complaint is not a declaration of guilt. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Information is subject to change as the investigation progresses and more details emerge.
