COLLINGDALE, PA — In the wake of a reported shooting in Collingdale, a Philadelphia man has been taken into custody, according to local law enforcement.

On January 15, 2024, officers from the Collingdale Police Department responded to a report of shots fired on the 100 block of Marshall Avenue. Officers Donald Beese, William Carter, Michael Hanly, Anthony Buckland Jr., and Steven Worrell were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, the officers discovered several shell casings in front of a residence. A male matching the description given by dispatchers was found in the vicinity and subjected to an investigatory stop by Officers Buckland and Worrell. The man was identified as 22-year-old Brandon H. Palmer of Philadelphia.

The investigation revealed that Palmer was seen on video camera discarding an object in a backyard a few streets away from Marshall Avenue shortly after the shots were reported. A subsequent search of the area led officers to a firearm in the location where Palmer was observed.

Palmer was taken into custody on January 14, 2024, and the firearm was recovered by Collingdale officers. No injuries or property damage were reported as a result of the incident. From statements obtained by officers, it is believed that the incident stemmed from a dispute between Palmer and another individual working together in the area.

Palmer faces charges of simple assault, possession of instruments of crime, and recklessly endangering another person. As always, it is important to note that a criminal complaint, arrest, or charges do not constitute a declaration of guilt. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
