PHILADELPHIA, PA — Security Risk Advisors is offering its new artificial intelligence security platform without a licensing fee through Microsoft’s Azure Marketplace, using a customer-controlled deployment model that seeks to compete with commercial security AI products on cost and data control.
The Philadelphia-based cybersecurity firm launched SCALR AI as an agent-based workbench for automating security operations, including incident triage and enrichment. Customers pay their own Azure computing costs but no separate fee to license the software.
Unlike a shared software-as-a-service deployment, SCALR AI operates within a customer’s private Azure tenant, allowing security data and AI workflows to remain within the organization’s environment.
The platform allows security teams to configure multiple AI agents, tools and Model Context Protocol servers into automated workflows. Security Risk Advisors said customers can build applications for threat hunting, vulnerability management and phishing analysis in addition to the incident-response capabilities included with the platform.
SCALR AI also supports multiple large language models rather than requiring customers to use a single model. The software provides visibility into the computing cost associated with individual workflows, agents and models.
The pricing approach puts the company in competition with cybersecurity AI platforms that charge licensing or consumption fees in addition to underlying infrastructure costs. Security Risk Advisors did not provide independent cost comparisons or disclose expected adoption figures.
“Security teams don’t need another platform to rent,” Chief Executive Officer Tim Wainwright said. “They need the ability to low-code/no-code build and own their capabilities and keep their data private.”
Chief Technology Officer Mike Pinch said the company designed SCALR AI around autonomous workflows triggered by incidents, events or schedules rather than primarily around chatbot-style interactions.
“SCALR AI runs as digital workers: agents that respond to an incident, an event, or a schedule, not to someone typing a prompt,” Pinch said.
Security Risk Advisors is also the developer of VECTR, a free platform used for tracking and measuring cybersecurity testing.
SCALR AI is available through the Azure Marketplace with a $0 license fee. Customers remain responsible for the Azure computing resources consumed by their deployments.
