PHILADELPHIA, PA — The inaugural Philadelphia Contemporary Circus Festival (PCCF) is poised to dazzle audiences as it debuts from May 23 to June 1, 2025, with an ambitious lineup of performances, workshops, and events spanning Philadelphia and South Jersey. Over 10 days, the festival promises 24+ shows featuring the artistry of emerging and established national and international circus performers.

The festival, taking place in the historic birthplace of American circus, will transform venues like Christ Church Neighborhood House, FringeArts, and Cherry Street Pier in Philadelphia, as well as the Trenton Circus Squad Tent in Camden’s Cooper’s Poynt Park. Audiences can expect creative movement, storytelling, and awe-inspiring athleticism, all designed to expand appreciation for circus arts.

Performances will include highlights like the French duo Agathe & Adrien’s N.Ormes and Daniel Gulko’s Life, Circus, and Everything Else, alongside workshops for artists and families. The programming also encompasses mixed-bill variety shows, first-look works-in-progress, and hands-on activities designed to engage audiences of all ages.

The event is spearheaded by Circadium School of Contemporary Circus and FringeArts, with partnerships from a host of circus and performing arts organizations such as Almanac Dance Circus Theatre and Trenton Circus Squad. Executive Committee member Shana Kennedy, also Executive Director of Circadium, noted that PCCF represents “a way of clearly aligning the needs of emerging artists, presenters, and audiences.”

The festival has drawn global talent, with performances from the United States, Canada, and France, blending tradition and innovation in circus arts. Mikaela Boone, Programming Director at FringeArts, emphasized PCCF’s role in fostering “connection, innovation, and development” for Philadelphia’s and visiting artists alike.
