CHELTENHAM TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the completion of the Ashbourne Road bridge rehabilitation in Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County. The bridge, a 114-year-old brick arch structure, now features reconstructed spandrel walls, wing walls, and parapets. Daily, approximately 1,609 vehicles traverse this 38-foot-wide, 12-foot-long bridge.
This rehabilitation is part of a larger $7,987,000 project involving the enhancement or replacement of seven structures across Bucks and Montgomery counties. Other bridges slated for work include those on Souderton Road, Wismer Road, and Allentown Road in Bucks County, as well as Black Rock Road and Linfield Road in Montgomery County.
Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, serves as the general contractor for these state-funded projects. This initiative underscores PennDOT’s commitment to improving transportation infrastructure, ensuring safety, and supporting regional connectivity.
