UPPER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has unveiled plans for a stormwater replacement project on Church Road in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County. This initiative is part of a broader $14.9 million project aimed at improving stormwater management facilities on over 90 state highways throughout the five-county Philadelphia region.
The announcement revealed that Church Road will be closed between S. Gulph Road and Henderson Road from Monday, January 8, through Friday, January 26. The road closure will be enforced on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. During this period, motorists are being directed to use S. Gulph Road and Henderson Road as alternative routes.
While the construction is underway, local access will be maintained for residents and businesses in the area. However, drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work zone, as backups and delays are expected due to the construction activities. It’s important to note that this schedule is weather-dependent and may be subject to changes based on weather conditions.
Highway Materials, Inc., based in Flourtown, Montgomery County, is the general contractor for this significant infrastructure upgrade, which is financed entirely using state funds.
