SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has revealed plans for significant stormwater improvements on state highways in Bucks, Delaware, and Montgomery counties. The upgrades are part of a larger $14.9 million project aimed at enhancing stormwater management facilities on over 90 state highways throughout the five-county Philadelphia region.
Travel restrictions associated with these improvement efforts are set to commence on Tuesday, January 2, and continue through Friday, January 5, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day. Motorists should anticipate delays and backups as roadwork unfolds in several areas.
In Middletown Township, Bucks County, Route 213 (Maple Avenue) between Woodbourne Road and Wheeler Way will undergo stormwater replacements. In Upper Chichester Township, Delaware County, sawcutting work is scheduled on Route 452 (Market Street) between Beech Street and Washington Avenue.
In Montgomery County, Lower Merion Township’s Wynnewood Road between Athens Avenue and Argyle Road will see both sawcutting and stormwater replacement. Similarly, Church Road in Upper Merion Township, between S. Gulph Rd and Henderson Road, will also be subject to sawcutting.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through these work areas, as the construction activities will inevitably cause delays. The schedule for these improvements is weather-dependent, and adjustments may be made if necessary.
Flourtown-based Highway Materials, Inc. is the general contractor for this project, which is financed entirely by state funds.
