PECO Energy to Begin Utility Construction on U.S. 30, Plan for Potential Delays

Traffic Restrictions

LOWER MERION TWP, PA — Montgomery County residents, brace yourselves for some upcoming traffic changes. PECO Energy is set to commence utility construction on U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) in Lower Merion Township next week.

Starting Monday, February 26, and continuing through Friday, April 5, there will be a weekday lane closure on westbound U.S. 30. The closure will occur between Church Road and Argyle Road and will be in effect from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Motorists should take note: the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) advises you to factor in extra time when traveling through the work area. Expect backups and delays due to the lane closure. Your usual commute may take longer than normal during the construction period.

Remember, outdoor projects like these are often subject to the whims of Mother Nature. All scheduled activities depend on the weather, so keep an eye on the forecast. Adverse conditions could potentially alter the timing and duration of the work.

This project is being completed under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit. In layman’s terms, this permit allows entities other than PennDOT (in this case, PECO Energy) to perform work within PennDOT’s right-of-way. This typically includes projects like utility installations, driveway cuts, and roadwork.

Patience, planning, and a good playlist for the ride can go a long way in making this temporary inconvenience more bearable. Safe travels, Montgomery County.
