PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that resurfacing work will take place on Moyamensing Avenue/Penrose Avenue (Route 291) in Philadelphia next week, requiring overnight lane closures.
From Thursday, September 11, through Friday, September 19, lanes will close weeknights between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. on sections of Route 291 between Oregon Avenue and 26th Street for milling operations.
The project is part of PennDOT’s regional resurfacing program to repair more than 200 miles of state highway across five counties. Crews will mill, repave, and seal roadways with new asphalt designed to extend pavement life and provide a smoother, safer driving surface.
PennDOT advised motorists to allow extra travel time when passing through the work zone, as delays and backups are expected. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
