PHILADELPHIA, PA — Drivers traveling through Center City during the overnight hours should prepare for temporary ramp closures and detours on Interstate 676 as PennDOT crews install barriers for upcoming long-term shoulder restrictions.

PennDOT said the ramp from westbound Interstate 676 to Broad Street (Route 611)/Central Philadelphia will close from midnight to 5:00 AM on Friday, June 5, and again on Friday, June 12.
During the closure, motorists will continue westbound on I-676 and exit at the Ben Franklin Parkway. Drivers will then turn right onto 22nd Street and right onto Spring Garden Street to access either 15th Street or Broad Street.
A second closure will affect the ramp from 16th Street to westbound I-676 from 2:00 AM to 4:00 AM on both dates.
Drivers entering westbound I-676 from Center City will be directed to use Spring Garden Street, turn left onto 21st Street, right onto Winter Street, and right onto 22nd Street to reach the interstate on-ramp.
PennDOT said the temporary closures are necessary to place barriers supporting long-term shoulder restrictions in the area.
Motorists traveling through Center City overnight should expect changing traffic patterns and possible delays along the detour routes. Plan extra time and remain alert for posted signage and lane changes.
