PHILADELPHIA, PA — Drivers heading through South Philadelphia should expect overnight disruptions as Packer Avenue is scheduled to close during two separate weekends this month for ongoing intersection improvement work.
At a Glance
- Roads Affected: Packer Avenue between Columbus Boulevard and Delaware Avenue
- Dates: Friday, April 10 – Monday, April 13; Friday, April 17 – Monday, April 20
- Times: 8:00 PM – 5:00 AM (overnight)
- Reason: Intersection reconstruction and safety improvements
PennDOT said Packer Avenue will be fully closed overnight during both scheduled periods, cutting off a key connection near the stadium complex and Delaware River waterfront.
Drivers will be directed to use Delaware Avenue, Columbus Boulevard, and Oregon Avenue to navigate around the closure. Expect delays along these alternate routes, particularly during late-night event traffic or early morning commuting hours.
Motorists should plan extra time and consider alternate routes to avoid congestion near the work zone. The closure is part of a broader $8.8 million project to widen and improve intersections, upgrade signals, and reconstruct roadway sections in the area.
All work is weather dependent and may be adjusted if conditions change.
