Nighttime Pavement Repairs on U.S. 1 Expected to Cause Delays Next Week

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that pavement repair will occur at night next week and continuously over the weekend on northbound and southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway). This work is part of a $100.6 million project to rehabilitate the Wayne Junction Viaduct over the SEPTA tracks and Nicetown neighborhood.

From Tuesday, May 28, through Friday, May 31, single and double lane closures will be in place periodically on southbound U.S. 1 between Fox Street and Interstate 76 from 3:30 PM to 5:30 AM the following morning.

Additionally, from Tuesday, May 28, through Friday, May 31, lane closures will occur periodically on northbound U.S. 1 between I-76 and Fox Street from 7:00 PM to 11:00 AM the following morning.

Motorists should allow extra time when traveling through these areas as backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
