PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that nighttime construction is scheduled to take place next week on southbound Interstate 95 at the Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange in Northeast Philadelphia.
From Wednesday, November 29, through Friday, December 1, two lanes will be closed on southbound I-95 between the Bridge Street and Betsy Ross Bridge interchanges. The closures are set to start from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through this area due to predicted backups and delays. All scheduled activities are subject to weather conditions.
On November 10, PennDOT opened the reconstructed ramps from the bridge and from Aramingo Avenue to southbound I-95, substantially completing the $93.6 million Section BR2 project. The project was designed to improve the connections with I-95 to and from the bridge and surface streets at the interchange.
Additional work will continue at various locations at the interchange through the end of 2023 as the contractor completes post-construction punch list activities.
