PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced upcoming lane closures on Veree Road, Rising Sun Avenue, and Kelly Drive next week as part of ongoing resurfacing and repair projects aimed at improving more than 200 miles of state highway across the five-county region.
From Monday, August 25, through Thursday, August 28, the following restrictions will be in place:
- Veree Road: Nightly lane closures from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM between Bustleton Avenue and Oxford Avenue for paving operations.
- Rising Sun Avenue: Daytime lane closures from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM between Cottman Avenue and U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) for inlet and manhole repairs.
- Kelly Drive: Daytime lane closures from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM between 25th Street and Ridge Avenue for inlet and manhole repairs.
PennDOT advises motorists to expect delays, plan alternate routes when possible, and allow extra travel time in affected areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
These projects are part of a broader effort to mill, repair, and repave state highways with new asphalt pavement designed to improve roadway durability and provide drivers with a smoother, safer surface.
