NEW CASTLE, DE — The New Castle County administration is set to breathe new life into its PodCounty podcast, promising an engaging blend of interviews with local movers and shakers, as well as in-depth explorations of influential county programs. In the driver’s seat for this relaunch is New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer, who steps in as the solo host. Kyle Grantham, the former host and current New Castle County Digital Media Manager, will be behind the scenes producing and editing.

The podcast will roll out fresh episodes every other Wednesday, starting from March 6th. The premiere episode features a deep dive into the Building Better Communities Initiative’s Project SEED. This project aims to reduce violence and foster community engagement in under-served neighborhoods throughout New Castle County. Meyer sits down with key members of the initiative to discuss their strategies and visions for a safer, more engaged community.

PodCounty initially launched in 2019, focusing on the stories of Delawareans making a difference in New Castle County. Over the course of 32 episodes, listeners were treated to conversations with prominent figures like former governor Jack Markell, former Toronto Blue Jays executive and baseball journalist Keith Law, and recording artist Stephen Kellogg.

The revamped PodCounty promises to continue this tradition of spotlighting local change-makers. Upcoming guests include former MTV News and Facebook executive Benjamin Wagner, former Tesla executive and founder of Evolve John Sweigart, and local author Adriana Camacho-Church.

But the relaunched podcast isn’t just about interviews. Meyer plans to delve into the inner workings of county initiatives that are shaping the lives of residents. Listeners can expect detailed examinations of projects like the Vacant Spaces to Livable Places program, the Nurse-Family Partnership, and the aforementioned Project SEED.

“There are so many individuals in our community making a difference that have fascinating stories to tell,” said Meyer. “But there are also incredibly impactful county programs that impact the lives of our residents and this platform really gives us a chance to dive in and give our constituents a better understanding of how we’re working to serve them every day.”

PodCounty can be accessed on major streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Podcasts, or directly from New Castle County’s dedicated website.

The relaunch of PodCounty signals an important step in enhancing transparency and engagement between local government and its constituents. By offering listeners a direct line to the county’s movers and shakers, as well as a closer look at key initiatives, the podcast promises to foster deeper understanding and dialogue within the New Castle County community.
