PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced a series of resurfacing operations on major Philadelphia roadways next week, part of a broader effort to repair and repave more than 200 miles of state highways across the five-county region.
From Monday, September 22, through Friday, September 26, lane closures will occur during both daytime and overnight hours on Penn Square, Moyamensing Avenue/Penrose Avenue (Route 291), Chestnut Street, Walnut Street, and Rhawn Street. Work will include milling, inlet and manhole repairs, and paving.
The projects are designed to extend roadway life, reduce water intrusion, and improve driving safety. Motorists are advised to expect backups and delays, and all work is weather dependent.
