Montgomery County Welcomes New Commerce Director, Stephen Forster, to Boost Economic Growth

NORRISTOWN, PA — The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners has recently appointed Stephen Forster as the new Director of the Montgomery County Commerce Department.

Forster brings to the role a wealth of experience from both corporate and government sectors. His appointment is seen as a significant step forward for the county’s economic progress.

“We welcome Stephen to join our team in Montgomery County and look forward to working closely together on moving the county forward,” said Jamila H. Winder, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “His rich background of corporate and government relations experience, both local to Montgomery County and on a national and international level, adds a valuable dimension to our efforts here.”

Forster expressed his enthusiasm about the opportunity to serve the county, stating, “This exciting new role allows me to give back to the community that has provided so many opportunities for my family and I to thrive.”

Prior to this appointment, Forster served as the Principal of Forster5 Consulting, a commercial mortgage banking company. His career, which spans over two decades, includes an impressive track record in commercial real estate development. Notably, Forster also spent several years raising capital in China and Vietnam, establishing two China-based sales offices and training local staff members.

Before his international stint, Forster held a position as Senior Vice President of Public Finance and Government Relations with a local real estate redeveloper. Here, he was responsible for regional land development initiatives, obtaining entitlements, and financing all phases of project pipelines.

Forster holds a J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco, California, a B.A. in Political Science from California State University—Long Beach, and was admitted to the California State Bar in 1994.

In his new role, Forster will lead the Montgomery County Commerce Department’s efforts to provide economic and workforce development services to individuals, entrepreneurs, investors, businesses, communities, and institutions. The department also offers market insights and data to prospective businesses through its website Montcoforward.org.

Forster’s extensive experience and innovative approach will undoubtedly prove invaluable in the county’s ongoing efforts to foster a robust and vibrant local economy.
