LYCRA Promotes Williamson to Lead Sustainability Strategy

The LYCRA Company

WILMINGTON, DE — The LYCRA Company promoted longtime executive Alistair Williamson to vice president of product sustainability as textile manufacturers face increasing pressure from apparel brands, regulators, and consumers to reduce environmental impact and improve supply-chain transparency.

Williamson will oversee the company’s sustainability strategy and initiatives tied to product development, operations, and innovation platforms, the company announced.

The appointment comes as fiber and apparel suppliers accelerate investment in recycled materials, renewable feedstocks, emissions reduction, and traceability systems amid tightening environmental standards and growing retailer sustainability requirements.

Williamson has worked in the textile fiber and apparel industries for four decades, including leadership roles spanning Europe, North America, and South Asia.

He joined the predecessor to The LYCRA Company in 2007 after working for nylon spinning manufacturers.

“Alistair’s expertise will drive our sustainability agenda and support our customers’ evolving requirements,” Executive Vice President of Product Doug Kelliher said in a statement.

The company said recent sustainability initiatives included launching a plant-based LYCRA fiber product containing 70% renewable content, introducing recycled-material offerings, and expanding third-party certification programs focused on transparency and traceability.
