LANCASTER, PA — In a significant breakthrough, East Lampeter Township Police have apprehended a suspect believed to be connected to a series of alleged burglaries dating back to the summer of 2023. The suspect, 23-year-old Tyrese Hatfield from Leola, Pennsylvania, was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, February 20, 2024.
The arrest followed reports of suspicious activity in the Leola area, which led to a foot pursuit and subsequent apprehension of Hatfield. Detective Heather Waltman filed several charges against Hatfield, including 17 counts of burglary, three counts of attempted burglary, one count of a different category of burglary, and one count of loitering and prowling at nighttime.
Magisterial District Justice B. Denise Commins set Hatfield’s bail at $150,000. Following his arraignment, Hatfield was remanded to Lancaster County Prison.
This development has reportedly solved numerous burglary cases that had been under investigation since last summer. However, the investigation continues, involving multiple other agencies in the area.
The East Lampeter Township Police expressed gratitude towards the public for providing tips related to these burglaries, noting their significant contribution to the progress of the investigation.
While this arrest marks an important step in the ongoing investigation, it is essential to remember that these are allegations. Hatfield, like all accused individuals, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We will continue to follow this story as more information becomes available.
