PHILADELPHIA, PA — Daytime lane closures are scheduled over the next two weeks on Vine Street in Center City as PennDOT begins roadway construction aimed at improving safety for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.
At a Glance
- Roads Affected: Vine Street
- Dates: Monday, April 20 through Friday, April 24 (eastbound); Monday, April 27 through Friday, May 1 (westbound)
- Times: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Reason: Roadway construction and safety improvements
Eastbound Vine Street between Broad Street (Route 611) and 8th Street will be reduced to a single lane from April 20 through April 24. The following week, from April 27 through May 1, westbound lanes along the same stretch will be restricted during the same daytime hours.
No detour is planned, but motorists should expect slower travel and congestion through the work zone. Plan extra time when traveling through Center City and consider alternate routes during midday hours.
The project includes reducing travel lanes from three to two, upgrading traffic signals, installing ADA-compliant curb ramps and bump-outs, adding bike lanes, and resurfacing the roadway.
All work is weather dependent and may be adjusted as conditions require.
