LANCASTER, PA — Fireworks, live music, food, and family fun will come together in a big way this summer as the Lancaster Stormers prepare to host a community-wide celebration marking 250 years of American history.

Set for Friday, July 3, the America 250 Celebration at Penn Medicine Park is shaping up to be one of Lancaster’s largest Independence Day events yet, offering a full evening of entertainment designed for all ages, all in one place.

From the moment festivities begin, the ballpark will transform into a festival-style experience filled with patriotic energy and nonstop activity. Families can explore bounce houses, meet animals at a petting zoo, browse local vendors, and take in live entertainment ranging from wrestling matches to historical reenactments.

A Night Packed With Community Spirit

The event reflects a broad community collaboration, bringing together the Lancaster Stormers, the City of Lancaster, Discover Lancaster, Three Legacies Wrestling, and the Lancaster Symphony for a celebration that blends tradition with modern fun.

“I am not just saying this because it’s the first Independence Day Celebration under my reign BUT I know it’s going to be the best one yet,” said Mary Beth Arnold, Lancaster Stormers Director of Human Resources and Events. “We added more entertainment, more food and beverage, and more kid-friendly activities in hopes to have something fun for everyone this year. I know I speak for the whole Stormers team when I say, I hope to see you there!”

Food lovers will find plenty to enjoy, from a pig roast to classic summer treats, along with crowd-pleasing competitions such as hot dog and apple pie eating contests. Organizers said registration for those contests will open in May.

Car enthusiasts can also take part in the Crazy on Clay Car Show, while businesses and community groups will have the opportunity to join the event as vendors.

Music and Fireworks Lead the Grand Finale

As the evening builds, the spotlight will turn to the Lancaster Symphony, which is scheduled to perform at 8:45 p.m. before the celebration closes with fireworks at 10 p.m.

“We’re thrilled to join the Lancaster Stormers and the City of Lancaster in celebrating America’s 250th birthday,” said Guy McIntosh, executive director of the Lancaster Symphony. “This is what the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra is all about—bringing world-class music to the entire community. From the re-premiere of Michael Wege’s powerful Second Founding to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture launching the fireworks, this will be an unforgettable evening where music meets community in the heart of Lancaster.”
