Lancaster District Attorney’s Office Investigates Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting of Wanted Suspect

MOUNT JOY TOWNSHIP, PA — The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office is currently investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred on Thursday afternoon in Mount Joy Township.

The incident took place at approximately 2:51 p.m. on the 1500 block of S. Market Street in Elizabethtown. Members of the United States Marshals’ Eastern District Violent Crimes Task Force were involved in the incident while attempting to serve an arrest warrant to a wanted suspect.

According to preliminary information, the task force members encountered the subject in the vicinity of the incident location. It is alleged that officers fired at the suspect, who was later pronounced dead. A firearm was reportedly found near the suspect at the scene.

Lancaster County District Attorney, Heather Adams, will review the incident and make a determination on the police use of force at a later date. This review is still in its early stages and more information will be released when deemed appropriate.

As this case unfolds, it is crucial to remember that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
