PHILADELPHIA, PA — Joe Hand Promotions will distribute WWE’s two-night SummerSlam event to bars and restaurants nationwide Aug. 1-2, extending its push to capture demand for premium sports programming in commercial venues following record distribution for WrestleMania 42.
SummerSlam will air live from Minnesota at 6 p.m. ET on both nights. Hospitality businesses can obtain commercial access through a WWE subscription from Joe Hand Promotions using DIRECTV FOR BUSINESS or the company’s streaming app.
The Philadelphia-based distributor reported that WrestleMania 42 produced record commercial distribution in April for the third consecutive year, though it did not disclose audience, venue or revenue figures.
The performance points to continued demand among bars and restaurants for wrestling events that can attract customers outside traditional major-league sports schedules.
Joe Hand Promotions added WWE programming to its app earlier this year, making WrestleMania 42 the first edition of the event offered through the platform. The app supplements the distributor’s established commercial delivery network, which continues to serve most of its hospitality customers.
Joe Hand Jr., president of Joe Hand Promotions, attributed the company’s distribution strategy to differing technology needs among commercial operators.
“Different businesses prefer different delivery methods, and our goal is to provide flexibility while continuing to support the reliable platforms our customers have trusted for years,” Hand said.
The company has distributed live sports and entertainment programming to commercial establishments through subscription television and streaming platforms. SummerSlam represents its next major WWE offering following WrestleMania’s commercial growth.
