WILMINGTON, DE — Emerging technologies are ushering in an exhilarating era, rendering the boundaries between the physical, digital, and virtual worlds increasingly nebulous. A company at the forefront of this shift is InterDigital, Inc. (Nasdaq: IDCC), a trailblazer in mobile, video, and AI technology research and development.

InterDigital will be exhibiting a suite of technologies with the potential to revolutionize how we work, play, and rest at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC), 2024. This unveiling will not only broaden the reach of their inventions but also showcase potential opportunities presented by the convergence of evolving 5G and burgeoning 6G technologies.

Operating from its booth at Hall 7 Stand 7B31, InterDigital will demonstrate its cutting-edge research and industry collaborations that unlock new network capabilities and enrich user experiences. The spotlight will be on state-of-the-art streaming solutions that deliver high-quality video content while mitigating energy consumption, developments that offer immersive experiences, and partnerships that enhance streaming video experiences.

InterDigital has always been a company that values innovation, creating transformative tools, and enabling unprecedented experiences. According to Rajesh Pankaj, EVP and CTO at InterDigital, “We are undergoing a paradigm shift from 5G to 6G and 2D to 3D video, so delivering a high-quality connected experience will be the most important factor for consumers and enterprises.”

InterDigital’s offerings at MWC seek to empower users in three core spheres of life: work, rest, and play.

At Work: InterDigital is set to exhibit a connected factory environment that utilizes its sensing and communication technology to offer an augmented experience of remotely controlling an autonomous vehicle. A pioneer of Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC), InterDigital showcases how this can enhance the user experience by providing information about objects in proximity to mobile devices and base stations.

At Rest: To address the energy impact of viewing, InterDigital will emulate a connected living room showcasing impressive video codec VVC and HDR streaming solutions that incorporate AI expertise. They will also demonstrate Pixel Value Reduction, a solution that reduces pixel luminance without perceptible change, supporting energy-efficient media delivery.

At Play: Recognising the growing trend of eSports, InterDigital has partnered with Razer Sensa HD and Interhaptics to create immersive gaming experiences. Utilizing haptic devices, InterDigital’s demo will enable viewers to experience the tactile sensation of gameplay, whether streamed live or pre-recorded.

Other features at MWC include stage presentations led by InterDigital and showcases at partner booths. Valerie Allie, InterDigital’s Video Solutions Lead, will deliver a presentation on haptic-enhanced and immersive streaming experiences. Additionally, InterDigital and Broadpeak will demonstrate their joint venture in MPEG V3C immersive content distribution over a content delivery network at the Broadpeak booth. Meanwhile, at the Keysight booth, InterDigital and Keysight will showcase a 144 GHz testbed powered by an AI-enabled air interface.

The vision of the next generation of wireless and 6G roadmaps will be examined in a panel discussion featuring Doug Castor, InterDigital’s Head of Wireless Research and Vice Chair of the Next G Alliance Roadmap Working Group, at the O-RAN Alliance Summit.

InterDigital’s efforts at MWC 2024 aim to illustrate its commitment to not only pioneer advances in technology but also to create experiences that bring value to users across diverse environments. It is this approach that makes InterDigital a trailblazer in the era of seamless immersion in the world of connectivity.
