PHILADELPHIA, PA — Eastbound Interstate 76 (Schuylkill Expressway) will close overnight for four consecutive nights beginning Monday, August 31, between the I-676 and 30th Street interchanges in Center City Philadelphia for Market Street Bridge construction.

The closures are scheduled for Monday, August 31; Tuesday, September 1; Wednesday, September 2; and Thursday, September 3. Each restriction will continue until 5:00 AM the following morning.
During the closures, drivers will be directed to use Arch Street/30th Street, Chestnut Street, and Schuylkill Avenue.
PennDOT warns that backups and delays are expected near the construction zone and along the detour route. Plan extra time and seek alternate routes if possible.
The work is part of a $148.9 million project to rehabilitate the bridges carrying Market Street over Amtrak, I-76, the Schuylkill River, the Schuylkill River Trail, and the CSX Railroad.
Construction includes replacing the bridges over Amtrak and I-76, redecking the bridge over the Schuylkill River, and replacing the bridge spanning the Schuylkill River Trail and CSX Railroad.
