DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Drivers on Interstate 476 should prepare for overnight delays next week as PennDOT installs traffic control systems along key sections of the highway.

At a Glance:

  • Roads Affected: I-476 (Northbound & Southbound), U.S. 30 Ramp, U.S. 1 Ramp
  • Dates: Monday, April 6, through Friday, April 10
  • Times: 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM
  • Reason: Traffic control and detector installation

PennDOT said lane closures will occur overnight on southbound I-476 between the Marple Road overpass and the Route 3 (West Chester Pike) interchange, and on northbound I-476 between the Beatty Road and Sproul Road overpasses.

Additional restrictions will impact ramps from U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) and U.S. 1 (Media Bypass) to northbound I-476, where crews will install ramp meters and loop detectors.

No detours are planned, but drivers should expect slow-moving traffic and possible backups near the Route 3 corridor and surrounding interchanges. Plan extra time for overnight travel or seek alternate routes where possible.

The work is part of a larger $63.7 million project to resurface nearly 17 miles of I-476, repair bridges, and upgrade safety and traffic management systems.
